The Reasoning & Rehabilitation Programs
Bob Ross (Ph.D. Psychology, University of Toronto) has been a lecturer at Wilfrid Laurier University; Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, University of Waterloo; Research Associate, University of Regina; and Professor of Criminology, University of Ottawa. He is a Professor Emeritus at Rastriya Raksha University in India.
Born and raised in Scotland, Dr. Ross is an international authority on offender rehabilitation and the prevention of antisocial behavior. He has had extensive experience as a Clinical Psychologist working with antisocial individuals including drug and alcohol abusing offenders; violent offenders; mentally disordered offenders; sex offenders; and adolescent offenders. He served for twelve years as Chief Psychologist with the Ontario Government's Ministry of Correctional Services in Canada for juvenile and adult offenders.
Dr. Ross has been a faculty member for the Ontario Department of Education's programs for special education teachers, and a Consultant to the Ontario Department of Educational Television. He has taught at Oxford University; Salford University in Manchester; the American University in Beirut; Simon Fraser University in Vancouver; the University of La laguna in the Canary Islands; The University of Bern in Switzerland; and the Central University in Caracas, Venezuela.
Since 1986 his "Reasoning and Rehabilitation" (R&R; R&R2) programs have been delivered in twenty-two countries to more than ninety thousand antisocial individuals: juvenile delinquents; behaviorally disordered adolescents; "at risk" youths; juvenile gang members; adult offenders; mentally disordered offenders; learning-disabled offenders, violent offenders; sex offenders; offenders with ADHD; and substance-abusing offenders. The efficacy of the program has been demonstrated in more than sixty, independent, international evaluations; metanalyses; and cost-benefit analyses. R&R and R&R2 program Handbooks have been translated in 16 languages including Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Japanese, Latvian, Spanish, and Swedish.
Dr. Ross’ research has been published in 16 books and 145 articles in journals in psychology, criminology and education.
He was awarded the Centennial Medal of Canada for his work with offenders.
Dr. Antonowicz MCA (Criminology) Ph.D. (Psychology) is Associate Professor of Criminology, Wilfrid Laurier University, Brantford, Canada. His reviews of studies examining the effectiveness of R&R programs have been published as book chapters - see examples in "Books"
Prof. Dr Susan Young is a Consultant Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, and Neuropsychologist. She is Director of Psychology Services Limited in London and internationally renowned for her expertise in ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and mental health problems providing health care services, academic research, teaching and training. Roz (Co-author of the R&R program) is a Certified Executive Coach (Royal Roads University) and an Accredited Emotional Intelligence Coach and Mentor, and she is a Visiting Faculty Member of the Canada School of the Public Service. She is co-author of three books: Reasoning & Rehabilitation: A Handbook for Cognitive Skills Training (1986); Thinking Straight (1985); Cognitive Skills: A Training Manual for Living skills (1988)
Bambi is a retired Principal of the Ottawa Carleton District Board of Education. She has had extensive experience as a front-line teacher and counselor in community schools and has served as the Educational Advisor for the Reasoning and Rehabilitation programs.
Dra. Maria Ferrer, M.A. Criminology, is a lawyer, criminologist and victimologist. She is a retired Professor of Criminology, Central University Venezuela. Dra. Ferrer was responsible for the introduction of Reasoning & Rehabilitation programs in Venezuela and South America.
Dr Abdennur, M.A. (Criminology); Ph.D. (Education) has taught behavioral sciences in several universities in Canada and internationally and was a contract researcher for Canada’s Department of Justice, Solicitor General and Correctional Services. He is the author of five books on Conflict Resolution, Camouflaged Aggression and Cognition.
Dra. Caballero is a Clinical Psychologist and Professor of crime prevention at the University of Laguna in Tenerife Spain. She specializes in the treatment of drug abusers. She has extensive experience in training students and professionals in the Spanish version of R&R. Her Ph.D dissertation evaluated the efficacy of R&R with Drug abusers in Spain.
